  1. that argument is just stupid on Are Plasma TVs the Next BetaMax? · · Score: 1

this is nothing like competing formats... blue ray and HDdvd are the next betamax/vhs.

I saw a plasma tv for sale with 60,000 hour display life. That's 7 years of CONSTANT use. We'll have 3d TVs by the time you need to replace anything... who cares if you can't get parts?

This is a TV, not some media player. If it has HDMI, then it'll last a while.

  2. We need caps on War Declared on Caps Lock Key · · Score: 1

I am telcom technician -- some of the systems I work with require caps to be on to program them. I would not want to hold down shift while trying to make entries. While caps is very annoying in the mainstream, it is still a valuable computer tool.

  3. I'm all for it on Gonzales Says Publishing Leaks Is A Crime · · Score: 1

Classified information shouldn't be leaked in the first place. It is unethical to publish it. Everyone down the line should be held accountable.

  4. Leaving Vonage and taking number with you on Ahead of IPO, Vonage Faces User Complaints · · Score: 1

Does nobody read the TOS when they sign up for service? I am with another VoIP provider, and I see this common theme in VoIP TOS disclaimers: Upon the disconnection of your Service, we may, in our sole and absolute discretion, release to your new service provider the telephone number that you ported (transferred or moved over) to us from your previous service provider and used in connection with your Service if: * such new service provider is able to accept such number; * your account has been properly disconnected; * your account is completely current, including payment for all charges and applicable disconnection fees; and * you request the transfer upon disconnecting your account. My take on that is not to give a VoIP provider my number. They are reserving the right to keep your number. Vonage's failure to release the customer's phone number was one of the primary complaints in the WSJ article -- he should've read the TOS before porting the number in to try the service out!

  5. IDIOTS! on OpenBSD Project in Financial Danger · · Score: 1

They think an opensource firm should be able to stay afloat just through CD sales?! They are retarded! This is the problem with opensource -- you need to generate new, innovative revenue streams. A popular one is through support.

They're right, everyone uses openssh. Why don't they fire the part-time hacker, and hire someone for support. That way, they're one employee could help generate some income! Then push further down that road. OpenSSH is the only thing openbsd really has going for it. It's not a largely used distro, as far a linux flavors go. it isn't inventive enough... not that that isn't obvious by their inability to invent a cash flow, even though they have one of the BIGGEST, BADDEST damn applications in the whole linux realm!

    This is my favorite part:
" What I want to point out what a lot of people don't seem to realize is that OpenSSH development is paid from the same pool of money as OpenBSD. OpenSSH is in use by millions around the world however the revenue stream just simply isn't there. This is where other projects could help. Without naming entities or projects by name there are others out there that are sitting on some cash. It would be wonderful if these entities could share some of the wealth to keep us going."

YOU DAMN MORONS-- HOW DO YOU THINK THEY GOT THEIR MONEY?!?! They didn't sit on their one damn claim to fame, and bitch and moan that people weren't BUYING enough of their FREE FRIGGIN SOFTWARE!!!

    RETARDS!
