    The lead helmet may also have the added benefit of protecting against gamma ray bursts. This presents the disturbing possibility that the only people remaining on the planet after such an event are paranoid schizoprenics.

    Shutting a system down might be even more catastrophic. E.g. fly-by-wire software.

    Yeh, also I hope they aren't relying on the paging system alone as you can't always guarantee the system is operational. For instance, someone might break into the 'secure' data center and nick some vital pieces of equipment... Vodafone I'm looking in your direction!

    I would recommend a good old fashioned alarm bell and flashing red lights with the paging as a secondary system.

Surely if there's no light then whether the glass is fogged up or not is irrelevant. Ok Ok so it says UV light... which we have loads of now the ozone is dwindling :)
