If you are a very conservative religious type like GWB, doesn't the Hubble presents a problem for you with every new discovery or press release? The Bible says that the world is only 5,000 to 7,500 years old, yet every press release talks about events millions of years ago... and thus every press release about Hubble is a direct challenge and insult to your religion. How much simpler to just let the telescope come down...
