Aliant / NBTel engineered this technology with a company they spun-off called iMagicTV. I would almost bet if anyone in Canada is getting tv over DSL, the technology came from iMagicTV in Saint John.
I think as soon as Aliant was formed, they scrapped all the DSL-cable-tv and gave people Bell ExpressVu because *shock* Bell owns Aliant now. NBTel used to truely be a telephone pioneer. They were pretty deep in bed with Nortel which is why I always chuckled when I saw tv ads for US carriers advertising *69... we had those feature long before anyone else as we were pretty much a testbed because of the advanced architecture here at that time.
NBTel (now Aliant... who is also now owned by Bell Canada) was delivering television over DSL through technology that they developed through a company the spun-off called iMagicTV. Worked quite good actually and was rolled out in at least 3 or 4 cities.
This was 5 years ago!!!
Oh yeah, and we also used to have full 10Mbps connections (back in 1996/97) but once DSL matured they quickly axed that system. (plus Nortel discontinued it and overall it wasn't cost effiecient... but what do I care? I had 10Mbps for $40 CANADIAN a month)
Anyways, was just kinda cool that this came outta Saint John, NB.
The OCZ is *not* all its cracked up to be. checkout the USB drive shootout from anandtech There are better drives to be got.
