Same here, I like Ubuntu simply because it works out of the box with all the power management and hardware features. I hate digging into xorg.conf to enable all 8 buttons of my mouse manually simply because the hardware was not detected perfectly at the installation stage.
I know it is against the free beers to use the nVidia drivers, but since they non-free editions are the only ones that work flawlessly I sadly have no other options.
