Firefox 1.0, doesn't really disables IDN, when user edits the entry in about:config. (Has many found before)
Solution:
Goto: http://www.mozilla.org/developer/
(no spoofing in here, just plain text;) )
At the bottom of the page there's a section called (Nightly Builds), download the file for your OS, and it should work now (don't forget to check the setting again on about:config -> network.enableIDN)
Tried on the Windows release, and worked fine (even after browser restart)... Good luck !!!
1) Goto about:config change the setting to false
2) Try to go the page: It should NOT open
3) Close the browser
4) Goto about:config again and check if the setting is still disabled (it should)
5) Now try again the page...
If it doesn't open again, congratulations ! My browser opened the page, even with the configuration off !!!
