Judging that these people have never seen a computer before. Or atleast the fact that maybe they have seen a computer and have never used them. What good is this computer boat going to do? The boat will come in and teach a limited number of people for a limited amount of time. Then it will go off to another port. It seems that this money could be used in other ways to help out the IT movement in this country. I could see possibly if the boat had more computers then 20. That seems like such a small number. There has to be more then 20 students in each port of call. So basically a limited number of students would be getting selected to learn more about computers and the internet. Also how would these students be selected? A lot of times richer students seem to have more advantages in poorer countries so maybe the rich students would have access to learning more about the computers. This seems like a supposed good idea but in the long run it seems like it will waste a lot of money and only see meak results.
I guess it would be hard to keep up with Slashdot if you had to wait for the internet boat to roll on into port. Imagine the amounts of spam at your hotmail account using this system:)

This idea is obvious one that went with little planning. The company is allowing cable shows to be taped and viewed by people who don't pay for the cable. This is just like stealing cable tv in a way. Eventually we are going to see a new tv commercial going something like, "does your dad steal cable tv from the internet". Come on get some brains when you try to do something.
While you could probably make a way to connect something like this to Napster it would be rather useless. Connecting over the internet using a cell phone will give you a very slow speed. It would not be practical to try to download a lot of mp3s while connected by this means. Also I don't want to be crushing I-70 going 80 miles per hour and have some guy driving all over the road because he is searching napster for the latest Backstreet Boys song. Cell phones make the road dangerous enough we don't want to add danger by having peopel connect their phones to Napster.
While Network Solutions may hold the majority of power over domain names at this time ICANN may rise and gain some power. ICANN is allowing people to join with them and form for one common goal for free. Eventually if ICANN gets enough members they will be able to have more power.
