  1. DOS suit on Old Film to DVD Transfers Examined · · Score: -1, Offtopic

I don't know why Slashdot rejected my story but the creator of the DOS operating system is suing a book author, because he wrote DOS was simply a rip-off of CP/M. Paterson, 48 and now retired, alleges that Evans' facts misrepresent history. He told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer his goal with the lawsuit is to get the truth out. The lawsuit filed in U.S. District court in Seattle seeks unspecified monetary damages. This could be big and might involve even Microsoft. http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2005-03-02-ms-co ding-dis_x.htm

    1. game complexity has hardly to do anything with the CPU. That is if you're not John Carmack and let the lightning be done on the CPU (not a wise thing to do). 2. more "irrelevant" stuff wil be pushed on the CPU from the GPU and thus making more use of the GPU => higher detail/complexity. 3. more realistic physics (ragdoll), better AI, more complex sound effects (5.1?). 4. [ot?] Microsoft will only charge one Windows license on the actual CPU => 1 CPU with n cores == 1 license. IBM and others (I think also Sun) will charge per core => 1 AMD with 2 cores == 2 OS licenses.

You know, I was thinking a similar thing some time ago. Given the popularity of phpbb and vBulletin you could centralize this for searching purposes so a master phpbb server could search through all phpbb forums. Or at least those that'd have it configurated so it would be able to. For example you would need to define your phpbb forum in certain categories; if it's a technology forum, what type, what specicif technology forum, primary language used on forum etc. So you could search though the master forum every technology phpbb forum that handles win32 programming for example. We all know you get a lot of impormation on forums, especially when you have some troubleshooting. Just imagine the power if you could search through all the phpbb forums in the world. Maybe you could even extend it with vBulletin and other popular forums. It would be like searching through usenet, but a lot better and much, much poweful.
