  1. Re:Yes on When Would You Accept DRM? · · Score: 4, Insightful

Everyone just loves to hate DRM cause it's so controlling and limiting and 1984 and blah blah. What about the fact that DRM allows Napster to offer an excellent service like Napster-to-Go? Or how about DRM allows video producers to have a video be playable only from their web site and for a certain amount of time before it expires? Does anyone care about the valid and useful DRM applications before screaming human rights violations?

  2. Friggin Monopoly on FCC Extends Set-Top Box Deadline · · Score: 1

I'm glad to see the FCC stepping in to do something useful (excuse derogatory generalization). Now the next step is to force cable providers to provide a la carte channel ordering. Honestly, I sick of cable monopolies and the rediculous prices. Companies now use "digital cable" as an excuse to charge a ton more for the lowest rate cable package. If I could only pay for the 3 channels I like, then I could pay maybe $20 a month for cable. And then have pay-per-view available for every channel on a daily rate.. [/ramble]

  3. Well.. on Is Apple The New Microsoft? · · Score: 1, Interesting

Even if you don't agree with some of their tactics like iTunes music only playing on an iPod, is that not their right to do so? Not _everything_ in the world has to work with _everthing_ else. This certainly is not a standard outside of the computer world. And besides, how else to catch up with Microsoft who leads in these practices?

  5. Not a bad idea... on Battlestar Galactica Available for Download · · Score: 1

Honestly, I don't see how just releasing one episode can hurt them. Obviously, they are looking for extend their fan base by making an episode easily accessible, legally. I think it's a good step towards how TV should be embracing the internet instead of fearing it.
