Maybe this depends on the experience.
Example:
most people have spent their time in from of the TV CRT which used to work at 50Hz (thankfully TVs now do support 100 Hz).
So, having this person in front of 60Hz CRT is like giving him/her something extra to what their eyes are used to.
For people who spent most of their time using the PC, 60Hz is ancient past and anytime they see it now they go "ungh!!! my brain hurts!!".
Read somewhere that in Japan (never been there, sob) the electricity is set at 60Hz, so their fluorescent light is also refreshing at 60Hz. When they come to Europe and end up in an office with fluorescent light they go "argghhh! turn off the strobe light" ie. they see the flicker in our fluorescent lighting (even when it is perfectly set).
The whole story has to do with brain more than eyes. Brain is used to certain frequencies and when it gets less it notices it;-)

And that would be very good. Not to put them in kissing "with just a bit of a tongue" situations, not to put them in "let us sleep together now, we will continue kicking Cylons ass tomorrow".
If they manage to do this, then just for it, I will eat my words (of harsh criticism;-)
Unfortunately, past experiences tell us that, if everyone in the screenwriters' department fail to make Apolo and Starbuck lovers, there will have to be, this really 'smart' producer's nephew's brother of a friend who will share the greatness of the idea of having the god old l'amour between A and S...

1. Quit using shaky handy cam effect. Worked well in Firefly. Not here
2. Having cylons religiously biased made me sit on the edge of the seat waiting, anticipating the hideous appearance of Osama Bin Cylon... Imposing current US vs. the World situation to SciFi show so much sucks. Hey, they even have an Air Force One with President's wife (Independence Day) as a new President. Guess she run for presidency when his 10th term finished.
3. Mixing old technology with future one is NOT always a good idea. Sure, it works well in some Manga and in some 'alternative history' comics and even in Firefly (ok, ok, I AM a Firefly fan) but NOT in BG. White board and markers... come on!!!
4. Sure, the original BG sucked once they arrived to Earth and got mangled with boy scouts etc. But the original Space Soap Opera was kick ass. When Cylons were mean mf robots and Apolo was Apolo and Starbuck his buddy.
5. Starbuck a girl... hmhmh... ok Apolo will get a chance to sleep with his buddy now. BAD, BAD, BAD idea. If they wanted more female characters they should have introduced new characters (new women fighters)
This BG is just so lame and boring. Wake up.
