At our weekly Magic game some friends and I were talking about the episode III and came to the conclusion that Darth-Sidius was actually Counselor Palpatine. This would give Sidius/Palpatine great insight into the Jedi plans and allow him to manipulate younger more impressionable Jedi like Anikin. Like Yoda said "The Dark side is Hard to See". I bet his will be reveled in the new movie.
