  1. Re:Dual Core Processors on The 100 Best Tech Products of 2006 · · Score: 0

Perhaps, but this is a best of 2006. The Core 2 Duo isn't even out yet, we're over half way into the year. The AMD Athlon 64 X2 has been out since before Jan 1. The Athlon 64 has made AMD hugely profitable this year, and even beaten Intel in the retail channel for first time. Core 2 Duo best best of 2007, not 2006. Has anyone even posted an unbiased benchmark yet? Keep in mind Intel has only let the chips be tested on the Intel provided setup, and for less than 24 hours at a time.

(as far as the layout, meh, I could maybe get used to it but the title bars are what's blinding, hurts to scroll down and skim articles. Title bars are so big compared to fonts. I don't think they need to stand out as much as this style does. At least the HTML4, CSS and Javascript all seem to be working well with both IE6 and IE7. Haven't tried Opera yet. Death to Firefox! then again as guady as Firefox looks, their users probably like this new layout.)

What part of *Maximum* speed don't you understand?? You're paying ~$40 a month, what do you expect? A 1.54mbps T-1 costs $250-$576 a month from a Tier-1 provider. I have 6mbps Comcast at home and get anywhere from 3-4mbps on average, sometimes 5-6mbps. I have 8mbps Comcast at work and get about 4-6mbps on average, for $99 a month. I also have a 1.54mbps T-1 from AT&T and get 1.54mbps. Oh wait, that's why you have to pay $576 a month for it. DSL works best within 3 miles of Central Office, the further out, the lower the speed. You could live 8 miles out like me and be lucky to get 16.8kbps dialup. I think I'll stick with my Comcast.

I could have told them that - every peice of OCZ, Geil, Kingston, Corsair, Crucial (overclockers type only), and Mushkin - that we see tests bad at standard clock speeds. If it's not bad when we first test it give it 2 months and the customer is back. So much better luck with Generic Samsung/Micron, DRAM Master or Supertalent branded sticks. People who pay 2x to 3x as much for "premium" ram are suckers anyway.

That's the problem, most of the time they drop ship from California, I'm in Maryland. There are local warehouses in PA or NJ for all major distributors they use. If out of stock there, then IL or IN is only 2 days away, GA/FL 3 days. But CA buy UPS is either 4 or 5 days, Fedex is 5 or 6 days. Not to mention, they will ship 1 or 2 days after you place order.

You'd thinking with that hardware and those warehouses they could ship items out in a timely fashion. As a last resort I have ordered several times from them, and you have no clue what day they will actually ship product. They drop ship alot of items, say from Ingram Micro or what have you, but don't even pick the closest warehouse. I can order from alot of other companies, for less money, and they ship out the same day I order. I know from what warehouse, I know what day it arrives. The $2.99 express fee is bogus. They use smoke and mirrors, make the whole process seem magical. Just ship the d*mn product! That's all we ask. Many times, even if an item is "in stock" it really isn't, I don't want to backorder an item, I can do that from a dozen different places, I'm ordering because I need the product! Don't even get me started on their lame search, unless you google the item, and search for the exact manufacturer part # forget about finding a decent result. Thank goodness I've never had to return a product, I can only imagine how much of a hassle that would be if it's this hard to buy a product.

Ok, what's the problem, Norton Antivirus *IS* a MALWARE! You install it on a perfectly working machine and it breaks it. Many times it cannot be uninstalled without running manual uninstall programs or manually removing keys from the registry. When installed it slows the machine by 3 to 5 times, making it unusuable. We repair 150 machines a week, and nearly 1/2 of them have been severally hindered by NAV. Most (80%) of the machines that come in with NAV are infected with viruses, trojans or spyware. We run it on our standalone repair machine as a 2nd antivirus program, and it will break itself about once per week and require us to uninstall and reinstall to get it to work again. On the other hand, I've NEVER had a problem with Microsoft Antispyware, it is definately in the top 3 of spyware cleaners.

It sounds to me like your an idividual trying to pass off as a legitimate dealer. It also is very unlikely they sold a notebook with an included pcmcia wireless card. More likely his wireless card was defective and you're blaming the notebook.

And, notebook computers are not called LAPTOPS. That's so 1985 when they were best called lugables. Notebook computers should never be used in your lap, as it blocks fans/vents etc, causing overheat issues. And while the power is on, you shouldn't be shaking around the hard drive.
