So I've been using this line in my crontab for a long time now without any problems (well no more problems than I usually experience with Flash under Linux):
* * * * * rm -fr/home/me/.macromedia
I think this solves the problem, but maybe I'm mistaken...?
The Heroes episodes were available a day after they aired last season. I expect they'll do the same this season (11 more days, woohoo!). And I think the episodes were available for quite some time after the season ended. But as another poster above mentioned, they removed the Heroes eps from their website after the DVDs were released. I'm not sure I can fault them for doing that...
I haven't had the image quality problem. In fact I was just watching the Friday Night Lights pilot, and I was surprised at how good it looked.
Also I'm not sure if you're saying that the image quality was good on iTunes or not...? But I must say I really hated watching the episodes from iTunes (granted this was when TV eps first appeared on iTunes, so things may have changed). They were formated for the iPod, so they were only something like 320 resolution. Scaling that up to watch on my 1600x1200 PC monitor was... painful.
If you go to www.nbc.com there's a big ol' link right there at the top: Watch Episodes. Why would you pay for or "steal" something that they're giving away for free anyway? Works great in Firefox/Kubuntu for me as well...

So help me God."
I like the idea of chown/chmod on the directory. I'll have to give that a shot.
/home/me/.adobe/Flash_Player/AssetCache
I did just look again, and it appears that they've changed the storage directory to:
