I just got one from Amazon for under $100 US. Installed it my self in less than an hour. A local shop would probably install it for less than $100. Now the car dealers do charge $400-$500 to install aftermarket cameras but everyone knows that they charge too much.
"OK so you don't understand how the internet works...."
I've been around a while so I'm pretty sure I have a good enough understanding of how the Internet and companies like AT&T work. This whole thing is a money grab by AT&T (and others). Once they set a precedent there is little to stop them from shaking down others like Netflix and anyone that offers a service that competes with them.
"Hey uhhh, how ya doin? That's a really really nice Internet biznesss you got going there. I would really hate for something to happen to your traffic. I tell ya wut. Today is your lucky day. We just happen to offer insurance for people like you to make sure nuttin happens to those pretty little packets of yours."
Now multiply that times every decent sized ISP and peering provider.
The ad notation still seems obvious enough to me. Google is also known for efficiently using screen space and bandwidth. Small changes can have significant savings when you are dealing with things on the scale that Google does.
Then again it could just be some evil in the works.:-)
Nice try but Aereo does NOT alter the broadcasted content. All ads (local, regional, and national, etc) are included in the recording. The recording is only available to the customer and the customer has to live in the region so the ads are not being shown to any unintended receivers.
I have yet to hear how exactly Aereo is harming the broadcasters. Nothing they do takes revenue from the broadcasters. If anything they are helping keep the OTA market alive longer.
What it really sounds like is going on is either a money grab so Aereo has to pay the broadcasters like the cable/sat companies or they are just blocking the new guy in the market. I guess another option is "they" (big corp and/or gov) want the OTA market to die off because they are more valuable elsewhere.
I'm pretty sure you NOT know any of them either. I think the point of the post was big corps run DC and that lately party names turn out to be different marketing campaigns to appeal to market/voting segments. No matter which group/party gets into power many things remain the same regardless of what was promised during the campaign.
Has there been an update to the second garage fire? If you know more then you should post up the information. The last I heard was "In this particular case, we don't yet know the precise cause, but have definitively determined that it did not originate in the battery, the charging system, the adapter or the electrical receptacle, as these components were untouched by the fire."
If that is true then that that leaves. 1) the car batteries 2) something that was brought into the vehicle 3) something external to the vehicle 4) ?????
Slashdotters love good coverup stories, etc but you gotta back them up with more than headlines.
Thank you. I like to check out this market niche from time to time. My main concern with some of these types of products is their complexity. When things go bad, very bad, I don't want to have to getting a multi-tier app by having to troubleshoot a remote DB, web server, etc just to retrieve a rarely used password. I have yet to find an app as simple as keypass, etc. that is multi-user but I will keep looking.
For now we use one of the mentioned free single user products with multiple password files. There is a master file that will get you the password for all of the other files that are organized per dept/group.
Agreed. Global menus are horrible. They most definitely waste time when app switching a lot and using the menus. Newsflash: most consumers don't know simple keyboard shortcuts.
Exactly. The look doesn't really need improving. It has stood the test of Internet time. Plenty of new sites have come and gone yet/. remains. If you want to make improvements then consider asking the users what they would consider improvements. Examples of something you might want to discuss: the ability to edit our posts.. even if for a short time.
No matter what - if you do decide to change the look anyway then be sure to leave an option for existing users to keep the classic interface.
I think the whole point of HTTPS Everywhere is that using it is better than not using it. Some say the improvement is marginal at best. Some say it isn't an improvement at all. What none of the naysayers are saying is how they are doing it better.
When the parents and grandparents start using it the "kids" tend to move elsewhere. Eventually the parents and grandparents follow. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Occam's confession? Don't admit to being malicious if you can easily claim you made a mistake? :-)
I doubt Google pushed the update. You should probably be blaming LG.
Your numbers are way off.

AT&T can't meet their customer's demand so they are charging the other end (Netflix) for being too popular. Yeah that sounds about right.

Same shit different science. It's a matter of who you trust.

It's not just that. Don't forget
* Smaller footprint
* Lighter weight

Yep. Plenty of choices.
Keepass
Password Corral
Password Safe
TrueCrypt

Ideally an OS would let the user choose.
This was exactly my first thought. My second thought was "good luck getting the truth".
Another 4 digit userID here supporting the anti-beta movement.

The Beta leaves much to be desired and seems like it is change for the sake of change.
Quit trying to be what other sites are being and stay true /.'s roots.

Why not give it a shot yourself -> http://sourceforge.net/project... ?
So what are you proposing instead?

As security increases, convenience decreases.
Money grab. Without enforcement on TLD usage (new and old) they can be meaningless.
Money and power corrupt.
