I have it working on my ThinkPad T42P with a Kyocera KPC 650 from Verizon which is running SUSE 10. It uses the usbserial driver and you may need to patch it (ask Google) if you are using a stock kernel.
I did have to use Windows to initially setup the card the first time using the Verizon CD ROM.
The only difference between Windows and Linux functionality is that I don't get a signal strength meter in Linux. My best speeds are about 1.6 Mb/s down, 127 up (dslreports.com/stest).
