This is actually already possible on S60 phones, with an app called KNFB Reader. Although it isn't cheap, its a fair bit cheaper than this Intel one.
"Mobile carriers may start giving away netbooks for free" Eh? This has already happened in the UK, without any carrier-specific crapware installed.
Opera has a filter.ini file which can be used to block addresses containing adverts.
