If you can afford to start an ISP with the cost of data (let alont the rest of the business costs) in Australia, they are far better things to do with your money. Telstra have a bit of a strangle hold on the isp market running large portions of the nations backbones and telco infrastructure. You have to rely on them for not only data (not cheap by any means in australia) (in most situations) but also for your dial up lines and they're out of date copper lines to homes. In rural Australia.. thats alot of hassle.
