  1. Re:Internet on 'NBC Nightly News' to Be Shown on Internet · · Score: 1

As far as I know the main barriers are rights holders and bandwidth. Rights holders (i.e. the makers of Lost) don't want people to be able to get their grubby mitts on easy to distribute videos of their stuff that they'll be able to flog for obscene amounts on DVD. They don't seem to see that people can just rip them and put them on Bittorrent anyway... Bandwidth costs are still to high to allow people to download large episodes (~400-500MB?). Advertisers are coming round to the idea that ads in the downloaded episodes are possible - targeting and tracking on these episodes would be extremely interesting to any advertiser. This does take time though!

Balls - my Outlook must be screwed, I can't get it to search 200 messages in less than 30 seconds generally. I also find the webpage retrieval really useful - better than the history and really helps me locate stuff. Am giving this sidebar thing a go at the moment, it's nothing special as yet.

  3. Feature List on Majority Of Customers Prefer Blu-Ray · · Score: 4, Insightful

Sounds like they missed the price tag out of the feature list. If you compared the feature list of Fords and Ferraris, you'd expect people to want the Ferrari more - but what do people buy? Getting slowly annoyed with these skewed PR surveys. Surely press hacks must be getting bored of filling space with meaningless copy?

  4. Corporate Blogging on Motivations for Corporate Blogging · · Score: 1

Working within Digital advertising, we see blogs as more than simply gaining exposure. Corporate blogs should be about providing more information to people who are already interested in your company. In order to gain from this, the company needs to be doing something interesting enough for people to want to read it. Shell (a british oil company) interestingly started a message board on their site so that they could respond directly to people's accusations. A good corporate blog should encourage dialogue and allow the company to respond accurately to people's concerns. The comments feature will allow people who genuinely care about the products to give their feedback.

  5. Good thing on Google Ads for RSS Feeds Goes Beta · · Score: 4, Insightful

If this encourages more people to use RSS feeds, then that will be a good thing. As far as I know, google still haven't implemented a system to allow Advertisers to choose which site \ RSS feed they will be listed on. Until this happens, most users shouldn't have a problem with the Google system as there's no way for advertisers (apart from Google) to wield undue influence on the publishers.
