I thought that after I quit being a Mac fan, I wouldn't have to watch a company I love downward spiral.

Thank you very much for not being a Mac fan anymore, as Apple is now recovering quite nicely.

Now, if I may: There's this quaint little company in Redmond named Microsoft. I'm sure you could grow to love them in a very short time. ^_^

Having had my very first /. posting (a polite statement of opinion, butressed by a few facts based upon my direct experiences with the item being discussed) labeled 'flamebait' makes me want to disagree. Dare I?

(Ok, so maybe I wasn't completely polite: I used the word 'sucks.' However, it was in reference to an inanimate object.)

I'm not new to this. I've posted in chatrooms|forums|newsgroups|whatever for over 10 years, and was completely surprised by instant negative karma.

Maybe not based on some moderators comments, but on what Rob/Hemos/Katz/crew actually read.

Although it would probably have helped in my situation, I'm sure Rob/Hemos/Katz/crew probably have enough to do already. I'd prefer they spend the time much as they already have: Sifting through the contributions and posting the relevent ones.

Hmm, the majority of my non-AC posts are about moderation. I think I'll stop now.

I sincerely apologize for offering an opinion counter to the majority of posters.

I guess I shouldn't bother joining discussions, regardless of my experience with the subject.

I had a Newton. Now I have a Palm Pilot. No comparison. The Newton sucked.

With my Pilot, I don't have to:

    • Change batteries WEEKLY
    • Wait for it to sort the address book EVERY TIME I need a number

Carry around a 5 pound 'lead weight'

Wait for it to boot, if I've been trying to save batteries

I'm sure there was more I've forgotten now.

I believe Apple was smart to get out of the Newton business when they did, with something like the Pilot on the market. Only thing they did wrong was wait so long to get out.
