Recently I've been trying to install linux on a friend's old Toshiba Satellite (Mem 64 MB, HDD 1,3 GB, CPU 233 mHz), and out of 5 different distros, none runs smoothly.
Ubuntu lite doesn't start X, Mandriva does, but runs terribly slowly, Redhat is even worse, and Debian Woody freezes during the installation, and PuppyLinux doesn't install to the hard drive. Any suggestions?

AFAIK, muLinux is no longer maintained. However, a "lite" version of Ubuntu is available.
