  1. It'd be a great e-book... on Changing Planet Revealed In Atlas · · Score: 1

I'm all for raising funds for sustainability of ventures like this however a project of this magnitude should be far more accessible to the public than having to drop $250 on the book. A significant problem beyond our negative impacts on the planet is the ignorance surrounding subjects like climate change, pollution, and toxic contamination. If people have only a vague idea that what they use is causing so much damage then limited access to usable information is certainly a problem. The biggest problem though is that consumers really aren't all that aware of what they do, and don't care to think about of how big an impact they have on the environment or geopolitics. Unfortunately climate change is apathetic about apathy. Scenarios range from big storms to sea level altitude causing a super-volcanic event but the real data generated does show clear reaction to the industrial revolution.

Again, presuming line of site is available, several groups have managed it by using larger dishes (9.5') at somewhat high altitudes (51 miles was the record a while back I believe) however you can also use repeaters as just mentioned.

Wouldn't it be more practical to attempt to use a high gain antenna to ride a public hotspot in this case? If you have line of site there are a number of easy DIY solutions that use parabolic/round direct dishes and wee bit of simple soldering of a tin can web guides available.

  4. Autistic Rights on Genetic Testing For Geekiness? · · Score: 1

It is simply amazing that few on this board have considered that people within the autistic spectrum might actually want to provide input on social eugenics movements.

Autistic Pride Day is an annual event held every June 16th to help promote awareness that much of what people know about autism is derived from limited exposure to media. This years theme, a driven response to the Combatting Autism Act of 2005, is "Acceptance Not Cure".

Not surprisingly, neurotypicals (the word autistics use to describe normal folk, NT's for short) don't seem to have the slightest interest in listening to what autistics have to say. Having yet to identify a cause for autism the race to find a cure, suck mercury out of the body, or use intervention (ABA) techniques is well under way.

Perhaps NT's shouldn't repeat the same mistakes Nazi's and Catholics have in the past by understanding the situation a bit better so they can work with it instead of just forcing everyone to be in the cookie cutter disaster that is this modern world.
