You summed it up quite well with the "surely it has to get better" comment. I now have watched almost the whole season for that exact reason.
The only good action scene is where they execute that burn to escape the "reavers".
Did anyone see that shootout where the crew members all go back to rescue the captain? Soooo bad. They're trying to take cover, but are in plain view and still can't get hit by the Alliance troopers firing at them.
The only only redeeming factor of this series is the camp factor (ie. so bad its good).
I can't get the fact out of my head that its Buffy in space and that the 13-15 year old demographic just loves it. "ooOOoh Mal is sooo dreamy!"
