With the current ease of making machinima videos, along with the popularity, an insane amount of movies are being pumped out. Obviously there will be many bad ones, and these will probably overshadow the few good ones. I've seen some impressive editing, dialogue, and scripting used in Halo machinima films. Just don't look at a few and make a judgement on Halo machinima in general.
You have to remember now that Apple has already begun to include music videos with certain songs and albums as a bonus, to get people used to getting music videos with music. You can also play them in iTunes. Now they will be distributed along with the music still, and can be taken on the road as well.
This is true about children. DVDs easily get snapped, lost, or smudged, while the data on a VHS tape is hidden, protecting it better (in most cases). From what I hear, Blue-Ray will be even more damagable becuase of the different laser, so this may deter more parents from switching. DVDs are cheaper, and most parents know that their kids don't need to have the latest Disney movie with the best picture quality and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. Most find it easier and cheaper to record on a blank VHS, with it simple to scehdule recordings or record over media.
Not entriely true...
As long as this movie is done right with a lot of input from Bungie, then this can be a major breakthrough in game to movie transitions.

No, it is isn't actually. More like South of Boston, MA. I live about fifteen minutes from there.
