"...Linux is ever going to take over as the "Main Stream" OS."

According to my experiences Linux IS a mainstream OS. At the last 3 years I could not have been in any server room without at least 1 but rather more Linux boxes, cubes or wardrobes. It is especially true for SMB-s (headcount 5 - 100 enterprises).

What is a mainstream OS if Linux isn't?!

This is not an argument when more than 70% of mail traffic is spam. Stop email?!

Maybe Zeinfeld has only a half of an eye. That is a reason why she(he) can not imagine legal executable mailing. Otherwise let's use RAR - until Gmail begins to block RAR-ed EXE-s too.

THX shic. I will not try Tbird 1.5 beta. The most silly thing was the useless print message in 1.0.x. Minus one tick for WebSideStory counters.

Isn't there something similar device under development for gun triggers? It senses the pressure pattern during the shot and not fires if the pattern doesn't match.

  5. Open Source People Are not Amateurs! on What Business Can Learn from Open Source · · Score: 1
Hey man! Haven't you heard of the biggest Open Source project being backed by professionals of big corporations? Linux = IBM, OpenOffice = Sun, Mozilla = AOL (oh it is over, but it was) and so son.

They support not only by money, but by full time employees, who supervise, direct and manage the open source process.

Of course, there are a lot of pure amateur projects -- but those of being known are supported indirectly by very professional organisations.

Another point, that the quality of work is independent of the commitment and effort. Everyone knows how s**t emerges from blood, sweat and tears. (I mean not literally...) So I strongly disagree with Paul Graham, despite some of his thought well worth to read.

I think it counts. And that loyal user base is mere 2% of PC users. Maybe it is easy to forget some 500 million users in India and China who access some kind of Linux but not one Apple.
