wouldn't that mean that you could only go into a past where your observation wouldn't change your 'present'? So then the past you would be travelling to wouldn't be 'your' past, it would be to a past where there were possibilities of your presence being felt but not yet defined in your present.
I really don't even know if that statement makes any sense...
