  1. If you liked this... on Why Game Developers Should Finish What They Start · · Score: 3, Informative

Check out the 'Indie Game Development Survival Guide' as it greatly expands on the article. A great book covering all aspects on how to complete a game (for fun or profit) as part of a hobbyist game-development team!

alternatively, it could be the Men In Black game. Don't quite remember Doom playing like Time Crisis...

It is a lovely phone, given the large screen and wealth of software you can get for it already, but you just can't play games with a stylus. It can run MAME, great, but try as I might I just can't play frogger, pac-man, etc with a pencil. May well go back to my 7650...

  5. Track Mir in 3D! on Mir Deathwatch · · Score: 1

Didn't see this one in the other comments. Parallel Graphics are tracking Mir in 3D at http://www.parallelgraphics.com/vrml/mir/. Uses Cortona VRML browser though, so it's only available to those with access to a Windowsboxen aswell.

    Does look funky though!

  6. Horses for courses on Making Linux Booting Pretty · · Score: 1

I wouln't dream of masking linux boot-up messages when I'm installing and configuring, but once it's up and running, would be nice to tart up the start-up.

With Windows 9x, no real point viewing an internal gubbins as doubt you could fix serious problems anyway without certification in registry hacking, or my usual method, being really quick at reinstalling.

Of course, there's www.xosl.org for a nice pretty boot manager, because - let's face it - lilo ain't attractive!

  7. Palm Revolutionised my password policy on How do you Remember Your Passwords? · · Score: 1

I used to have about three or four 'favourite' passwords that I'd use and rotate about accounts, slightly modifying it each use. Now I have a Palm Pilot running Cryptinfo, I can make up totally varied passwords any time, as I know they are securely stored. My favourites are now used to secure Cryptinfo. As my Palm rarely ever leaves my side, I can feel safe about my password repository, and know that all my accounts are using original passwords. Oh, and if you ever get the chance to change a friends password, change it to 'obvious'. Hours of fun can be had. 'Come on, what's my password?' 'Look, I told you it's obvious...!'
