In fact Porsche does this.
I have a few buddys that over reved on the track and blew the engine in a lease car two got the engine replaced one did not because Porsche asked for the black box records (the other two the dealer just replaced we have a really cool dealer when it comes to racing).
and I know GM is doing this on some of the redline/SS/Z06/V cars now a days
