Actually, you can get this to work, using HPNA adapters. It actually does work pretty well (I think it can get to 100 Mbit) IF you make each connection PERFECTLY. That involves using connectors with compression connections (as opposed to crimped), and using a wrench to correctly torque every single connection, every time.
That being said, I completely agree with rickb928: Go CAT-5 or better and avoid the hassle. Better yet, go wireless and get some repeaters. The money you spend will be a great investment over time in avoiding hassle.
