Some companies may not allow business information to reside on personal computers (specifically for this reason). They also want to be able to collect all business related items from an employee immediately in case of termination.

While conceptually I agree with your philosophy, a particular issue concerns me...what if someone came up with a truly unique idea that would revolutionize life as we know it? I'm afraid peer review may not allow the patent for fear of not being able to compete (or even if they allow the patent some information could be conveniently leaked to the competition). Always assume someone's trying to kick you in the ass until they prove otherwise.

Does that mean that it's okay to murder a man carrying groceries home from the store to feed a family of 4?

Once value thresholds are compromised, it's purely a matter of time before a new limit is set.

A guy walks into a bar and asks a girl if she'd sleep with him for a million dollars. She says sure. He then asks if she'd sleep with him for one dollar. Shocked the girl responds...What kind of girl do you think I am? He replies...We've already established that, now we're just negotiating.

I guess we should quit using the following:

    Fire - People get burned.

    Electricity - People get electrocuted.

    Water - People drown.

Food - People get fat or high cholesterol and die.

Breathing - Risk of inhaling asbestos.

People, if we avoid doing things to protect ourselves from the dangers inherent in being alive...we'll die anyway. It's not a matter of black and white but a lot of gray. We need to do what we can to reduce risk, but it's always a trade-off. It just sucks being on the short end of the trade-off stick. This doesn't avoid retards that can't follow directions when adding uranium to a fuel processing plant, however, it now seems that to reduce risk changes need to be implemented (NOT eliminating nuclear power as a resource).

This is just my opinion...who cares if I'm wrong.
