And that is the point driven home. Valuation is simply what the next guy is willing to pay for it. All comments to the contrary are academic only. What's Amazon worth while it bleeds? As of this writing its worth about $65/share and capitalized at almost 23 BILLION after a net loss of 720 MILLION

Strange measure of laziness - if France can maintain itself as a player in global politics while reducing working hours for the citizens, they have my vote for a cool system. Ever played Civilization: Call to Power? Even gaming authors are aware of the fact that only an advanced economy can tranform efficiency into happiness as well as wealth. As other posters have already stated - why are you attacking France? For defending the privacy of its citizens? Stay on subject here.

I am surprised that you were misinterpreted.
The term "chicago school" is a generic label for free markets economic - as have already been described.

I am in full agreement that this is disturbing. Just disturbing - not an emergency.

I spoke with my antitrust professor this evening -a self described fan of "post-chicago" school of economic thought. Basically that means that he is opposed to pure market solutions, a more moderate and reasonable approach. He merely expressed his reservations that Posner leans the wrong way, but no concern as to his brains. Maybe I can get him to write a few words for slashdot on this.
