  1. Re:The complaint isn't always "noise" on Two Turntables and a Laser Beam · · Score: 1

This is one of those terms that is mighty hard to explain in words

Its not at all hard to explain in words. The "warmness" they are refering to is due to the fact that analogue outputs nice rounded waves, whereas digital outputs square waves. Its the same reason stereo systems are comming out with valves rather than transistors - this helps compensate for a digital input, by rounding it off, or preserves a nice analogue input.

The only down side to vinyl is that the needle tends to degrade the material each time it's played, which is where lasers come into it...

  2. Re:Headphones on your wrist? on MP3 Player in a Watch · · Score: 2

dude.. the picture clearly shows the headphone jack on the side of the watch with headphones plugged into it. Its not really a mobile player due to hassles with the headphone cord, but would be good for when your sitting at work or something. The thing I don't get is that the headphone jack is mounted on the side of the watch, and looks like it would get in the way alot (putting on jackets e.t.c) I hope it comes off, otherwise its a stupid design imho.

  4. nothing on Ask Slashdot: What Music do you Code By? · · Score: 1

I find music distracts me from coding, and I like to have complete silience when I code. oh, I usually sing songs in my head though, but these range from whatever I've last heard on the radio, to what someone else was humming a couple of hours ago... Anyway, I don't like coding with music playing, I can't think straight.

Why not bet on something going down, then crack it at new years. Everyone will assume it was a y2k bug and you win the bet, with no further investigation..
