  1. Re:Not an improvement but biz as usual. on Netflix Throttling Heavy Renters · · Score: 1

I do know that Gamefly had a similar problem with USPS as well. Turns out there were some sticky fingered folks at some of the distribution centers (the red and orange envelopes are easy to spot). New tracking technology they were rolling out within the last 6 months, in conjunction with the USPS, were supposed to track these people down. Not that your experience isn't justified, but knowing this I think Occam's Razor applies well here.

True, but this is hardly news to most Chinese that I've met. I took the parent's comment to imply that Google was somehow better than others by informing their users which links were censored. I wish it were so.

    Bullshit.

I quick search on google.cn for "Falun Gong" will show the same censored view you get from any other search engine. No obvious indication of what is missed from a non-censored search.

Google .cn search for Falun Gong

  4. Specious argument on Hillary, GTA, and High School Football · · Score: 1
The article is nice but I think its a specious argument. I'm not trying to defend Hillary and her ambitions, but I think the point being raised is how informed are the parents. In bulleted list form:
    • Football - Yes it is violent, aggressive, dangerous etc. but parents presumably know this before they allow their children to play
    • GTA San Andreas - Violent videogame that may *surprise!* have pornographic scenes. If parents knew this I think many of the posters might never have gotten the game.
Of course if you can purchase your own videogames, who cares what the ratings are. Just don't be deceptive to those who do -- allow parents to make an informed choice.
