I would not be in favor of giving each person a receipt because that can be used to intimidate people into voting a certain way. For example, someone stands near the exit for the polling place and beats up anyone that didn't vote the way they were "supposed to".
I would be in favor of having the machine print out readable ballots that are then put into a regular ballot box.
