If you can do it in Visual Basick then go for it. The best programming language is the one that you know the most.
each language is designet for a praticular tasks...thats why we have so many programming languages. but if you know the language you can do allmost anything.
as an example lets say that you know basic C and strong VB.. if you have to do a program what language you will pick ? if you pick VB is this mean that C sucks ? no ! it mean that you know VB better and you can make your work with VB.
afcourse if you are a super ninja mo fo on programming languages you will know that there is some BIG diferences between VB and C. And in general between compilator languages ( C ) and interpretators ( VB ) .
but as i previos state it depend of the taks.
So.. to finalize with one word.. go for the language that you know most.

VLC is good enought and have WM codecs no one noticed the bulshit about 10mbits to datacenter wich is not true. shame on you linux users. stop bitchin about windows and microsoft and get a life . you have your own OS of choice and it is good to focus on it only.
