Is Coca-Cola going too far? I say they are not going far enough! They obviously have a large cadre of lawyers they need to keep busy, so I propose they go after every street dealer of cocaine out there who uses the word "coke" in their dealings, as this is obviously trademark infringement. One can see the potential for confusion when, just after selling a stolen TV to the local fence, someone plunks down his money with a local dealer and ends up with...cocaine, instead of the Coca-Cola he obviously intended to buy. This must stop - we can't allow this type of confusion to run rampant in the ghettos of America!

I met my wife in at singles function I went to. We were the first two people there and just hit it off. But before that, most of my online female contacts seem to get more into sex than an actual relationship. Don't get me wrong, sex is great, but a long term relationship is definitely better. The point is that there are a lot of women interested in sex online, but I found a lot fewer that were interested in a real relationship.
Typically, announcements which can have major repercussions on stocks or the stock market in general are made after hours to give the analysts and spin meisters time to digest the information and, hopefully, not panic the investing public. I'm sure Judge Jackson is not oblivous to this as well, thus, the timing of his annoucement which gives everyone the whole weekend to think about it. Look for some major spin in M$ press releases before opening bell on Monday to try to dampen the downward pressure their stock will be getting.
I really like the.png format for graphics (it's the native format for Fireworks and is supported by Photoshop and a number of other graphic programs) and think it is the wave of the future, but the support isn't quite there yet - you really cut out a lot of your audience when you throw in legacy broswer users and Mac browsers that can't read.png format graphics. I guess.jpg it is....sigh!
Here, here. I fully agree. For Linux to become the Microsoft killer that a lot of people want it to be means it has to get beyond the server market and on to the desktop in significant numbers. How does that happen? Ease of use, of course. That means hardware autodetection, default drivers, plain english instructions for set up, and other "hand holding" features that will walk the average computer user through the installation process.
If you want to bypass all the ease of use stuff, have an "expert setup" that will allow you to customize the kernel to your heart's delight, create modules and so on (one of the real strengths of open source software), without all the little help features along the way. That way we can have the best of both worlds.
Until Linux can address the ease of use issue, it's not going to dominate the world.
All in all, I prefer the dedicated bandwidth I get with a DSL connection. They do tend to be a bit pricy though - I get 384/128 (usually runs faster than that) for $49.95/month. It would cost me $179.95/month to go to a 1.5/384 connection - ouch! But as long as people are falling all over themselves to pay these prices, there won't be much downward pressure.
Dvorak, Microsoft shill that he tends to be at times, does have some points. The point he misses is that Linux is still an evolving system and, I do believe, scalability is an important issue for future kernel releases - unlike Windoze whose whole evolution seems to be to add more bells and whistles and sell more Microsoft applications. I know that Linux in a Beowulf configuration has racked up some impressive stats as far as heavy duty number crunching goes, but that configuration doesn't work as well when applied to more straighforward server type applications.
Besides $$, the other thing MS has on it's side is time. They can keep chipping away, giving away products. It doesn't have to happen overnight. Remember Netscape? They just kept chipping away, once they were determined to have that market. Fortunately, they have shown their cards one time too many. Everyone by now knows what their strategy is, but the scary thing is, with universities so cash strapped these days, wil it matter to the administrative people who handle the $$?

this woman turned out to be more clever at getting around the law.
Not quite - it's just another successful attempt to avoid responsibility for one's own actions - something that is happening way too often these days.

If it's true, then he needs to be put away. There aren't too many things much more disgusting than kiddie porn in my book!

well, at least www.DrippySinuses.com is still available. That's a relief!
