    Then your kid probably uses the name timmy1957 on teenchat when he gets bored

    Sorry if that sounded like a troll, didn't realise there were legal reasons, I suspected there might be some but I come from a culture where quite a few laws get ignored.

    The problem is not that there isn't a video player capable of playing WMV under Linux it's that you can't install one to use.

    It works fine here. What problem are you having exactly?

    Well if I paid for a box can I assume that the content is a freebie and is therefore worthless so it wont hurt to let other people have it etc.

    Or am I just twisting logic a bit too far there?

    Depends where you live. In the UK there's a law called the computer misuse act that makes it illegal to modify programs or data without permision from the owner of the computer. Perhaps there is a similar law where you live?
