I'm working in an IT capacity for the first time. We're in the travel industry and we have about 500 employees. There are 5 people in IT. Two are specialized in a particular system. Two (including myself) are general IT support, and the fifth is a network specialist whose real job is managing the department. We're mostly a Windows based company, with a few Macs in place.
Previously I worked at a company who had three IT specialists for about 600 employees.
...except hard drives can crash, but I still have my CD's from 15 years ago. I don't know how many "collections" of MP3's I've built and subsequently lost due to a drive failure, but it's enough that it has made me hesitant of abandoning physical media.
