It was. PHP/FI 2.0 was under the GPL, I believe, and I know that PHP 1.0 definately was.
They changed the license because they 'wanted PHP to have better acceptance' and chose a crappy GPL-incompatible, freedom-questionable license.
It seems to me that the French government is protecting consumer rights from music companies who just want to force their ways of protecting 'Intellectual Property'.
Slashdot last year had a story about the Australian government introducing copyright amendment laws to make private copying of videos and TV shows (only for private purposes of course) legal.
When you go to the install toolbar page, they say there's no spyware or adware, and they are bundled with Norton Internet Security (I would trust Symantec more than M$). Are the spyware rumours true, or just rumours?
I would add on that you should not have a GUI or anything like that in the core program, but you must make sure that the program is scriptable enough to add one using another separate program, e.g. include an IPC system accesible from the outside to control it.
There have been some *very* bad Linux ports in the past. Compare NeroLinux with K3b and you'll see what I mean.
Also all these apps are proprietary and I don't think MS would be happy GPLing its software. What I would really like is for companies to public domain old versions of their software, let's say over 10 years old or something.
There is only the Linux kernel... and no you don't have to develop a driver for multiple versions of Linux! That's nothing short of absolute lies!
True, however some distros do put on patches that can mess things up. Also it would be nice to see some companies actually package their drivers for new users, and that does need to be done individually for each distro.
> Unpriveleged access will be the default, and it'll be damn near impossible to breach
Yes, because of the hardware-level DRM chips it will be impossible. The next few Windoze OSes will be much more secure, not only from the outside, but from the user.
Well, maybe there's a low penetration rate of computers in general: if 10% of people have PCs and 5% have internet, that means 50% of people with computers have the internet.
BTW, Creation is in detail in genesis 1. Genesis 2 is after man is created.
In Genesis 2, it says that there were no plants when the world was created. Then god watered them. Then he made man (Gen2:4-7).
Look, all of you use evolution as an excuse: because if you saw the truth, that the world was created, then you would need God. That's called sinful nature. It started in Genesis 3:1.
Lastly, ID is not growing as an accepted scientific theory, because it is not a scientific theory. It is not falsifiable; therefore it is not scientific. Period.
And that's why it is becoming an accepted scientific theory. Because more people are saying that it is a scientific theory.
Dumbed-down? Creationist propaganda?
What I do know is that standard evolutionist propaganda is to present some theory that requires a PhD in biology to understand. The core theory of evolution is very simple: Humans mutated from apes, which mutated from whatever, etc... etc... etc..., which mutated from a single-celled organism that formed because some chemicals found their way together.
But we had much better consumer rights overall and I still think we do.

Read debian-legal for a while. Recently there was a huge thread about the freeness (as in RMS, DFSG) of the license and its practical problems.
My suggested change would be to go back to the GPL instead of the crap PHP license.

BTW, http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://accoona.com gives interesting results.
Use the 'find out about %s' link to go to accoona.answers.com, and notice the logo. Have they changed hands recently, or launched a whole new site?

PlanetMirror is good in Australia and Asia, not sure about the US though.
Doxygen. Combined with KDevelop or similar IDE, it produces quite good API docs.

DRM, anyone?
...they're fixing bugs before they release. M$ is doing something right and actually attempting to release a more secure Windoze than XP.
well, shipping a product 8 years ahead of schedule is going to causee trouble...comdex 97 i think it was

I believe that Wikipedia adds a META tag that stops Googlebot and other bots following links. Still doesn't stop it from distracting users though.
Where is common descent part of ID? Yes, I know we all descended from Noah..
If we had all these flaws, wouldn't they have evolved out by now?
If you're going to argue, I suggest you buy a copy of Unnatural Enemies. http://secure.fellowworkers.com/cgi-bin/mmstore/ue .html
