But the idea of smart fan control has always scared me. I'm not ready to trust something that turns the fan off. My latest motherboard has this control and it was a little too much for me to swallow - the massive wallet reduction and then the sight of that fan sitting there stationary.
I don't know that having somebody sitting quite still staring at a screen makes for compelling viewing. Normally the only people who twitch are the ones that don't often play games. Seems to me the more you play the more zombielike you get. Maybe it is interesting in an art house kind of way but since when were hollywood interested in making art house?
I kind of enjoy the hilarity of the hollywood depiction though. I never go to see movies with this type of subject matter thinking I'm going to get a serious journey in the mystical world of gaming anyway.
For me, gaming movies hit a pinnicale when The Wizard (1989) was released.
I did an engineering degree. Sure, there was abysmal teaching (they weren't stupid, just most academics make poor teachers) and tough subjects but what exactly do you expect?
Fantastic solution though, lower standards for more engineers! Is this the american way? Smart countries would try to prepare students better for careers in engineering and find better teaching methods.
Most people who come out of engineering degrees have no real practical clue about anything as it is, we're taught a mass of theory with very little practice, above all that is the biggest issue in engineering education. Experience breeds confidence and right now any engineering student who isn't working in an engineering firm during the degree has it tough because the unknown is always daunting.
.. that documentary whores would absolutely love for the squid to be depicted as a hostile creature.
I'd say the floodgates are officially open. Coming soon: Giant Squid week!
(can't forget the obviousness of hollywood revisiting this now. I suppose if they have another shark movie ready to go they could just do a search and replace in the script and change shark to giant squid.. presto!).
