  1. Susan Hildreth, and the San Francisco Library on Censored Wikipedia Articles Appear On Protest Site · · Score: 0, Offtopic

Under Susan Hildreth the San Francisco Public Library became an abysmal mess. She played politics to get where she is today-- but she was not wanted here by people who really love books.

She embraced technology because of its glamour-- not for its usefulness. This is a big subject-- and I simply do not have the energy to rehash what many San Franciscans know: the Public Library here is an over-politicized place that cheats its benefactors, employees, and the public-- largely thanks to Hildreth's past leadership and her continuing influence.

Hildreth's actions bespeak subservience to technology interests-- especially RFID interests.

Of course she would say her efforts are a rsounding success! For her to prove it is another matter.

  2. I Love the GIMP! on GIMP Not Enough for Linux Users? · · Score: 1

I have watched the GIMP get better and better. I like the GUI which is flexible once one gets the hang of it.

    I cannot afford Photoshop.

I believe many people don't like GIMP because they have not spent enough time with it to get the hang of it.

More people I think would like it if they knew how easy it is to get.

  3. Is Imbedded advertising news? on Google Zeitgeist '05 · · Score: 1

Google notes: enjoy this selective view of our collective year. Google sure collected! For me, the tip-off was the "ipod" searches. Ipod has got to be one of the most overhyped and overrated products in American history... and of great interest to Google? I wonder.

    I absolutely agree with this!

My greatest pleasure at wikipedia is providing photos to articles, or adding esoteric small items that won't likely be erased.

But when it comes to writing serious articles, particularly on political subjects, I do not have the energy or time to tangle with schools of stubborn ignorance.

(I am unafraid of sharks because you can pop them on the nose and they can turn-- but brainless schools of jellyfish-- that I fear because there is no relief so long as you swim with them!)
