I have to totally agree with a comment another reader posted early in the replies: Why should the US give up what it created? That doesn't make any sense why the US should. So because the Internet is used internationally means they should lose ownership? That doesn't make sense.
Take Bill Gates, whether you like him or not, he created an empire and an operating system that is used the world over...should he give it up to the UN because the operating system is use internationally and is important?....I think not. I think it's like everything else in the world: The US is powerful and other countries are always looking at ways to take power away...Get over it.
