We are preventing this sort of attack on our Linux servers utilizing ConfigServer Firewall and a standard SSH port only we know. It's unlikely somebody is going to find our new SSH port before they are blocked for port scanning by CSF.
There are other options then CSF such as cPanel Hulk, but we also like the other options CSF offers such as being able to use a distributed list of IP's to block which allows for a distributed firewall amongst all of our servers.
