Well, I think you've over-looked the obvious: snail mail.
Hire a lot (2000 - 3000) of temps & they each write a letter containing all the details for an employee.
You post these letters & as each one is sent, the temp who wrote the letter goes to the Consultant's offices & reads his or her letter & types it into the new system.
That would work & everyone understands the method, too.
Course, it might have a little delay, depending on the postman.

Do what you want to do, what you think will be fun and exciting. I couldn't agree more -- do what INTERESTS you.
Vocational degrees, taken to enhance future prospects rather than because you're interested in the subject, will quite possibly bore the pants off you -- and that's 2, 3 years of your life, so it's just not worth making such a mistake.
You have an opportunity to learn full-time something you find interesting -- the chance rarely comes round again.
