    • So unless you're Google or some other virtual equivalent of the USA, better treat your users nicely.

I'm sorry, but no. If google did something irrational that pissed everyone off, they would go and use a different search engine and there is nothing google could do about that.
The 'USA' as 'google' however, would blow up all the other rival websites claiming its 'their internet' and you can't stop us... god told me to do <insert stupid thing that pissed everyone off in the first place />, so its okay...

But I digress from the actual topic, as has been mentioned by another reply, the whole world is made up of tiny dictatorships, with the illution of democracy etc... internet included.

Well thats my two pence... night all.
  2. Re:Proven Reliable. on 32 GB Flash Storage Drive Announced · · Score: 1

But what is the reported size of said '2GB' compactflash drive now?

Reading above comments suggest that as memory locations use up their write limitations, they get flagged as dead and a different location is used instead.
This is all without the user knowing about it... possibly even without the OS knowing - so you may not have got any errors logged.

Please prove me wrong with this theory and say that the compactflash drive is still at full capacity - this new, larger solid state technology is looking very promising!

yes you can... in a sense. You refuse the microsoft EULA and get a refund on windows, remove it from your machine and start your life afresh with *nix

Anyhoo, windows still has the monopoly on ease of setup for PCs (although I don't own an apple, I believe it practically works out of the box). Lets face it - if you had no experience in setting up a computer (PC or MAC or anything else) would you go for the option that allows you to have lots of flexability and expandability or the one that will practically work out of the box?

    Meh

I'll certainly be keeping an eye on this story... (a shame we can't see the pictures now her site is slashdotted)

How I see it, is that it IS impeding their rights and it should not be up to the school to stop children having blogs full stop.
The school should however teach the importance of hiding your true identity (in certain cases) or not revealing too much information on such blog sites.

I'm sure all this is, is another case of a power-hungry principal who thinks the children are his and should do what he says all the time, in and out of the classroom.

However, I just don't see the UN or any other international body chaning ICANN, as america just wouldn't actually listen (doesn't american politics make complete sense...:S)
