  1. Re:What's still missing on Slackware 12.2 Released · · Score: 1

FYI you dont just "add PAM" to the distro... you recompile shadow/glibc et al with PAM support and do a shit load of reconfiguration. Guess why 3rd pary GNOME on Slackware is still a hit-and-miss afair?

  2. I thought this was standard behavior? on U.S. Classrooms Torn Between Science and Religion · · Score: 2, Insightful

And this kind of thing happens roughtly a million times a day all over the world.
The big question is: Was anyone supprised by this sensational piece of news?

I'm a beliver of something non-scientific myself, but i never ever forget that it is something that i *believe* in.
It's not a law, or even a propable theory or model, just because i happen to belive in it. I've always found the "this-proves-religion-X" style argument totally foolish and a complete waste of time.

The sad thing is that i often find myself quite alone with this oppinion when among other belivers of this-or-that.

  3. Pentium M differs quite a bit my friend.... on Intel Unveils New Chips to Battle AMD · · Score: 3, Interesting

You *REALLY* need to look at the Pentium M...

    OS: Slackware Linux (Current)
    Application: kcalc (Comes with KDE)

These are both ASUS laptops with PC3200 RAM:
    2.8 GHz Celeron:     65 secs
    1.6 GHz Celeron M: 18.5 secs

This kind of makes you wonder now, doesn't it? It appears that the Pentium M achieves *quite* a bit more per MHz then the Pentium 4.

Aside from that... the calculator in windows is obviously a joke, as the 1.6 GHz machine took 118 secs to do it in WinXP   >_<

  4. RTA please :-) on Guidelines for GPLv3 Process Released · · Score: 1

Nothing has changed yet.. this is a work-draft. Even with carefull wording like "the not-yet-implemented proposals for change include foo, bar and bas" will materialize in the brain of the usual slashdot troll as "foo, bar and bas changed for good, and now we can never go back"...
In delicate political and social matters like this one, I can only tip my hat to the notion that the good authors of slashdot stay *well* out of what has even a remote chance of getting flamed up.

    Just my .02
