I don't think that's true. I think the point is that 50 amperes of current will charge it to 90% in five minutes. when you are talking about Ampere hours, you are referring to the time/current for when you discharge it, so you would need 120 amps to DIS-charge it in 5 minutes, but they obviously have come up with the technology to charge it much quicker than discharging it.

Sigh. Given that Meucci actually used his invention on a daily basis to speak with his wife, and demonstrated it in public six years before Bell got his patent, I think that's pretty much the dumbest fucking claim I've seen on Slashdot in years - and you're up against some stiff competition. I'm just using information from wikipedia here:

10 March 1876--The first successful telephone transmission of clear speech when Bell spoke into his device, "Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you." and Watson heard each word distinctly. don't hate if I'm just a victim of misinformation.

Cell Phones have become a necessity, like it or not. It is probably because the cell phone providers created the necessity, but it has become a necessity nonetheless.

Since it's quicktime that's being exploited, it doesn't matter which version. It's because of the way IE and Safari have plugins for the quicktime files so the browsers just crash instead. FTFA they say that opening an email link or attachment would do the same thing.

Direct quote when talking about eating less to lose weight:

"Consuming less has historically never been shown to work" He also goes on to say that exercise doesn't work, and that propaganda from orthopedic surgeons conspiring to keep people getting injured so they have patients is the reason that they suggest exercise to lose weight.

Good thing we are all taking sound advice from someone who has had no formal training in nutrition or medical science. Brilliant
  11. Re:Progress report on Operation Flab on The Obesity Epidemic — Is Medicine Scientific? · · Score: 1

Yes, it's pretty simple, eat less then you burn off, and you will lose weight. Of course, this is for your average person, and you may be able to eat a lot more or a lot less depending on how much muscle you have. And actually, if you eat tons of calories more than you burn off, it won't necessarily make you fat. If you weight train, it will mainly build muscle instead of fat. I lost 50 pounds over a year, and the only thing I did was watch the amount of calories I took in, nothing more, didn't matter where they came from. A lifestyle change is really the only solution to obesity. The problem is no one is patient enough to feel good about losing 1 pound or less a week.

Not to reply specifically to you, but to all of you that are saying to not waste their time thinking about these things when there are other things 'more important.' Yes, it is true that there are much bigger issues around than video game ratings, but you can't say to drop everything and just focus on iraq or whatever else. There are obviously some citizens who care about this stuff (I'm not saying I agree with them) and our government is there to handle all things like this, not just focus on one because it is more important. Government doesn't work like that.
