just set up a Myspace like social networking website! That way they'll get more personal info on US citizens than they can possibly dream of and it'll all be for FREE! Why haven't they thought of doing this..
Slashdot: A 14 year old girl sues Myspace for $30 million for failing to protect her personal details from access by unverified individuals.
I mean come on, it tells you in the summary that it's a Tom's hardware article, did you really expect it's not broken up into 40 pages and full of ads? (X-bit labs is also guilty of this I have to say) I do still visit the site, but most of the time I skip straight to the conclusion, a THG article is definitely not one that anyone'll have a go at you for not RTFA entirely.
THG has really gone downhill, nothing there these days is worth reading (well maybe the odd networking guide). Look in its archives and you'll find quality stuff they did back in 1999/2000 vs the trash of today.
I wonder how long before the drive wear itself down to an unusable size? Especially with an normal WinXP installation. I've heard that the Embedded XP has a special write delaying mechanism that bunches together disk writes to minimize wear? Anyone know if that's true or not?
btw I'm interested in putting Linux onto a CF flash disk, they're dirt cheap on ebay nowadays and with a ATA to CF adapter I could have fun expermenting with SS storage. Apart from not using a journalling FS like ext3 anyone have experiance/advice on how to minimize write wearing?
Set up a Power User account (if you're using XP Pro). It's not as restrictive as a regular user and it'll be less exposed than an Admin account. I don't know whether any games have problems running in p-user mode, but of all the apps I've tried I've not come across any problems yet.
(except System Mechanic, but you'd expect that as it really needs the access privileges)
Of course power-user is still vulnerable to installing of trojans/malware but I suppose for that education is the best solution, teach whoever will be using the computer that not all software plays nice.
God predicted that bacteria would evolve into creationists and George w Bush, unfortunately though complex multicellular organisms they are now, basic primordial instincts remain and Bush still believes we can thrive at 73 degrees Celcius and is determinedly ignoring efforts to curb global warming...
...but I get so irked whenever I see Viiv printed like this, my brain keeps wanting to make it symmetrical but I can't do it with one v capitalized, can't they make it nice and symmetrical like via's logo? especially seeing as they're using letters that's just soo begging to be.
oh and I liked the "Viiv-aciousness" in TFA

ummm maybe it's not such a good idea

We can't see the planet, but we can smell it through my smelloscope that I built last year!

The dude will definitely need a bigger server now every slashdot geek rush to view his website.
