    I don't expect everyone to know everything about every topic, but I do expect people to make the effort to find out what something is before they put out a request for information.

    And no it is not betterunixthanunix's fault that people viewing a news for nerds website can't figure out what a remailer is. A basic grasp of english tells you what a remailer is, and if you do not have a basic grasp of english you should be used to looking up words when viewing an english language website.

    In order to accomplish a feat such as this you need resources, if those resources are not coming from the government or non-profit orginizations then they are coming from private individuals and private individuals would like a return on their investment.

    Humans are quite an idiotic, selfish, and immoral lot. You can talk about how a project such as this greatly benefits humanity, but if you get no funding you get nowhere.

    Yea, they might not be selling the platinum at $1500 an ounce, but instead at probably $500 an ounce and still have a nice profit.

    If you can't understand TFS then read the TFA, if you still don't understand it then it should at least leave you with enough information to look up the portions you do not know.

    You learn more looking it up and finding out what you do not know rather than having someone spoon feed you the information.

    So basically if the submitter or editor had included the information then you would actually end up learning less.

    Weapons grade or not there will be a ton of security.

    And even if there was not military base level of security it's not like you can just go in and pull out the fuel. This reactor will not be sitting in Iran or North Korea, it will be in Missouri.

    No warning aside from the two or three days it takes to get here..

    It would only take three days if you put it on a trajectory where it goes around the moon, if you are trying to nuke someone with no warning why would you send it around the moon first?

    A railgun powerful enough to launch something to the moon is also capable of shooting a smaller payload a shorter distance. And unlike an ICBM it can be fired again, and again, and again.....

    Good tool to have though if we do find an asteroid heading at us. In a case like that the more railguns the better.

    A rail-gun that can put something in orbit around the Moon can land a warhead anywhere on Earth and with practically no warning.

    Civilians are starting to put in dash cams also and the reason is to protect themselves in the case of an accident.

    One case that made the news a bit was when someone backed up into someone else in a traffic jam and claimed that the person rear ended them. The video saved that person a ton of money and a ton of hassle, and probably got a con artist put in jail.

    So they listen to everyones conversations in real-time?

    That would take around an eighth or a quarter of society to accomplish.

    Even if they recorded everything and converted everything to text that would still be so much information it would be a significant portion of all information transmitted over the internet.

    I have a Hyundai, it has their version of Onstar called Bluelink, they can track just about any feature of my car at will, but their network is still young as is their software so I rather doubt they do any real time anything.

    If you remove the carrot and stick of a currency based society then society is more likely to de-evolve into a land of lotus eaters rather a society of extra-planetary explorers.

    One of the big motivators to have more money is so that you can do less.

    If it could be accomplished for any dollar amount work would have already been started on getting it done.

    A space elevator is one of those things, that once put in place it will change society as we know it. The benefits are astronomical.

    Considering that it only cost me the amount of a bluetooth OBDII adapter, ( between $13-$100 ), an android device ( $65 and up ), and the Torque pro app to do what they want.

    I don't see the little guys having too much of a problem with it.
