If your IT systems can't recover from catastrophic failures like this then you suck as a CTO
If your development practices don't involve integration testing then you suck as a CTO
If you allow a new employee with no experience to commit changes to production then you suck as a CTO
That is why regulation is needed. Maybe they incentivize the local monopolies by being very controlling if there are 3 or less ISP competitors in an area and the regulations are lifted for any network owner that leases at cost their network capacity to other ISPs or for areas with at least 4 network operators.
That would provide an incentive for companies to not use protectionist nonsense at the municipality level.
How about just seeking increased ISP competition period?
It was great back in the day when the tel-cos had to lease access to their lines to ISPs...you had real completion in DSL....then Cable comes in and wham....everyone dies a slow death and DSL is thrown to the side due to technological limitations.
yeah....getting the FDA out of the way would do sooooo much...lets roll in the snake oil and deadly "cures"....Thalidomide didn't affect the US because the FDA did not approve it for use in the US.
FUUUUCCCKKKKKKK
It was a news week article about a crack pot idea from a single crack pot guy that had no backing from the scientific community.
GAH....this talking point needs to die....it makes people look stupid.
Fixed for clarity:
I agree....Local governments should instead contract with an infrastructure company to lay lines and maintain the lines and then that infrastructure company can sell access to ISPs on those lines...Crazy....that might work out well.
Utopian Libertarian. The way you think about how the world works and the way a Marxist think the world works are equally accurate.
let me know how you feel when we jump to SpaceX too soon and we loose 10 billion on a few failures.
They also can't reduce quality of service to skim a profit of the top (for profit)...
you do realize that when you launch a 2 billion dollar satellite you are looking for success rate, not price...right?
Depending on how large of an enterprise you are dealing with, personally verifying the backup of the database is functioning might not be possible.

Said so well. What hack denialist did you crib that from?
Have you looked at the corporate world? It is strewn with millions of bad ideas.
one of these is supposedly equal to 250 trees worth of carbon sink/air pollution scrub.
These remove particulates and other air pollutants that are unique to cities.
Should be debate flat earthers too? Bafoonery should be called out as such and not given legitimacy.
Since when is AI new?

The building probably pays for a fiber connected to a tier 3 provider, assuming there are enough people in the building to make it worth it.

yeah...say that when the world leaves the Dollar standard for trade.
yep....Trump is ceding the leadership role of the world economy and security to China. #MAGA #NOTSOMAGA
you're one of those idiots that waits for shit to hit the fan before you decide to do something.

I hope you own land near the coast or are a farmer.
