Here in Mexico, Internet access is not nearly as spread as in developed countries, but I see the current trend is that existing companies are bundling access with their main services, for instance Telmex (Mexico's main phone company) is pushing very hard to sell their phone lines with a 512kbps link. And prices are not that high. Another example is cable companies that are also offering discount when buying the video and data services together. Is there a Moore Law equivalent on bandwidth?
I think the important thing here is not if the planet temperature or climate is similar to earth, but the fact that such small and distant objects are being discovered by our instruments. If we were to find a truly earth-like planet, even if it was life-less it would be a major event. Unfortunately the climate in such planet could change a lot in the 20,000 years light took getting here, and it would definitely change in the no less than 20,000 years that would take us to get there.
I think Carl Sagan said in the Cosmos series that it would not be unlikely that
coming generations would name constellations (and other celestial objects)
after their interest; home appliances, radio telescopes, mushrooms clouds. What does the name 'Buffy' say about us?
Graffiti can be a great form of expression and art. But is not accountable like printed/serious journalism. It is just a new form of expression, it does not have to confect with existing one. Just give each form of communication its own value.
